 Scientific Programmer

We are looking to a hire a Scientific Programmer to join our broad-based team of scientists and engineers in Monterey, CA. If you are a few years into your career, have demonstrated success, full of integrity, fun, challenger seeker, assertive, and a make it happen type of person, we want you on our team! This position will be on-site at a Government Facility, so only US Citizen may apply.

Job Duties

• Analysis of space based microwave and infrared radiometer, spectrometer, and interferometer data
• Interpretation, utilization, radiometric calibration and validation of data
• Software development support to current and future remote sensing systems
• Assists scientists and engineers in the assimilation of space based remotely sensed data from hyper-spectral infrared spectrometers and interferometers, microwave radiometers, and/or radio occultation from the GPS-RO constellation

Minimum Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizen
• Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Science (Meteorology), Oceanography, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong desire to learn new techniques and methodologies to process large volume of data
• Strong background in mathematical and physical science
• Organized, exceptionally detail-oriented, focused, punctual, responsible and reliable
• An authentic "can do!" personality, with a natural tendency to be proactive and take initiative
• At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:

  • C/CC++
  • . Python
  • UNIX Shell Scripting
  • Matlab and/or IDL
  • GrADS
  • CRTM
  • ROPP
  • MPI

Bonus Qualifications: • Knowledge of atmospheric radiative transfer, microwave radiometer design, microwave calibration methodology • Intermediate experience with statistical analysis
