Weather Enterprise Lead


Lincoln Laboratory’s Homeland Protection and Air Traffic Control Division seeks an experienced, visionary principal investigator to lead a strategic thrust advancing enterprise weather capabilities supporting transportation, disaster response, security, energy, and commerce. New initiatives are expected to span sensing systems, data collection, data fusion, modeling, forecasting, and decision support across local, regional, seasonal, or climate domains and timescales. The candidate should be familiar with the state of the art in these fields, and with Government programs and strategies. Will be expected to build and lead a team of staff to synthesize and execute vibrant program opportunities in collaboration with other national laboratories or universities as appropriate. Candidate will work closely with the Division’s leadership to coordinate program development, establish and foster ties to sponsors, and manage technical execution of programs and career growth of the staff.


Requirements: PhD in Atmospheric Science or related physical science or engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years experience in leading weather technology research and development. Demonstrated track record conceiving and implementing innovative programs, recruiting high-quality staff, and leading teams of technical staff. Excellent communication skills required.
